First you need to understand the celestial set up.

There is a complicated hierarchy in heaven, like some massive corporationand everyone knows their place. There you will find the same infighting,back-stabbing, and palm-greasing as in any multinational company or seat ofgovernment.

The angelic hierarchy is split into Triads and these triads are in turndivided into Choirs.

The Highest triad is made up of:

Seraphim - closest to God and taking the form of pure light, they devotetheir entire excistence to praising him and telling him how holy he is.

Cherubim - magnificent four winged, multi-faceted creatures, of wisdom andknowledge, they have the ear of the Lord and intercede, like elder statesmen orpresidential advisors. They are also divine charioteers.

Thrones - burning beings of fire and flesh, they have substance in a way thehigher choirs do not. They are the transport, the vessels of the higher choirsand of God himself, and it is matter from these beings that is offered for thecreation of mankind. Their king is Raphael.

The second Triad comprises:

Dominions - channels of mercy and regulators of angel activities, celestialcivil servants that speak fire and live among the celestial letters of the holyname.

Virtues - who bestow blessings, lend courage to heroes and distributemiracles. Shining beings of brilliance, their princes are renowned; Tarshish,Satanel (before his expulsion), Michael, Raphael, Gabriel and Bariel.

Powers - vital to heavens defense, the first angels to be created. These areheavenly peace-keepers, responsible for security like a celestial CIA. A darkforce, the secret activities of this choir are a complex blend of good and evil,for the Powers are the front line in a a deadly struggle for the soul andbelieve that the end justifies the means.

The third Triad:

Principalities - protectors of religion and very orthodox in their beliefs,they rule the nations of the earth, its kings and cities and dabble in earthlypower politics.

Archangels - The messengers of the gods, enforcers of heavenly decrees.Seven stand before God; Gabriel, Michael, Raphael, Uriel, Sariel, Raguel andRaziel.

Angels - The foot soldiers and errand boys, closest to mankind. Bothcorporeal and incorporeal, they number in their millions.

There are angels, who turn up in several different choirs, Michael, Gabrieland Raphael have multiple existences. But here anything is possible.
